What is a disposable gown and where is it used?
A disposable gown is a single-use protective garment that shields the wearer from fluid splash and contamination. Platinum Medical Textile makes sterile surgical gowns for operating rooms and clinics, non-sterile isolation gowns, patient (modesty) gowns and PE aprons.
What are SMS and SMMS fabrics?
SMS is a non-woven polypropylene fabric built from spunbond–meltblown–spunbond layers; the meltblown core acts as a barrier against fluids and particles. SMMS has four layers with two meltblown layers. Our product pages state the fabric structure as SMS or SMMS (for example 40 gsm).
What is EN 13795?
EN 13795 is the European standard series for surgical drapes, surgical gowns and clean air suits. EN 13795-1 defines the general requirements for manufacturers and product information. EN 13795-1 is stated on the product page of our sterile surgical gown.
What does Type 5/6 coverall mean?
Type 5 refers to protection against airborne solid particles and Type 6 against limited liquid chemical splash. Our Type 5/6 disposable coverall is designed for both classes and is Category III personal protective equipment.
What is the difference between a sterile surgical gown and a non-sterile isolation gown?
A sterile surgical gown is supplied sterile for use in sterile environments such as surgery. A non-sterile isolation gown is used where a sterile field is not required, to protect against airborne bacteria or virus particles.
What is the difference between Type I, Type II and Type IIR surgical masks?
Under EN 14683, Type I masks require at least 95% bacterial filtration efficiency, while Type II and Type IIR require at least 98%. Type IIR is additionally resistant to fluid splash. Our Type IIR surgical masks are 3-ply.
Are disposable coveralls suitable for farmers, cleaning and industrial work?
Disposable coveralls are used for field work, cleaning, laundries and industrial facilities to protect the body from dust and dirt. For jobs that need chemical protection, always check the product's protection class (for example Type 5/6) and the standard your task requires.

Do you issue an invoice for wholesale orders?
Yes, all our wholesale sales are invoiced. Prices are shown excluding and including VAT.
Can I have products made under my own brand (private label)?
